bleed – Sympatex Functional Jacket

Product description by bleed

Do you like going skiing or snowboarding, going for long walks in good or bad weather, or do you simply have a long walk or bike ride to work? This coat is perfect for the months through autumn until spring. In temperatures close to zero and in wet weather it keeps you warm and dry. The material is from SYMPATEX®, the fleece lining is made of recycled polyester, the waterproofing is free from PFCs and PFOAs, the membrane is free from PTFE and due to the sorting purity this coat can be recycled again after use. Large pockets give you enough space for hands, mobile phones, loose change and your ski pass. The adjustable arms, waistband and hood make sure you don’t get cold and are sheltered from the wind. So get in the coat and head outside. There are no more excuses!

GRV’s view:

This jacket is made from 100% Polyester, which accounts for full recyclability. Manufacturing is GOTS certified and the jacket is CO2 neutral. We at GRV believe this is an extraordinary achievement, which hasn’t been done before to our knowledge.

Brand Management for us at GRV means to look at all the issues, which are directly controlled and integrated by the Brand’s Management towards business and supply chain strategy as a whole.

With Brand Commitment GRV is looking at the pro-active efforts towards sustainable development on all levels like the % of sustainable product lines within the whole portfolio, or life cycle assessments and public reporting. These are key indicators of the engagement of a Brand towards responsibility.

On this level GRV is looking at product related information, like material content, supply chain and certification. Warranty, reparability and „end of use“ advice are also important aspects. At the moment, GRV is looking at selected highlight products from different product lines, which show the special sustainable efforts of the brand.

Bleed is GOTS certified, which is a key ingredient. Only buying GOTS certified fabrics, where GOTS is relevant.

In general Bleed believes in the importance of certificates in order to strengthen transparency and confidence in one companies production. Because they do put a special focus on the research and development of exotic and sustainable materials, having unconventional fibers certified is often difficult. For instance, they prefer accepting a weakness of attestation, instead of resigning a functional fiber, which does make a significant contribution to environmental relief due to its minimal water demands and with no involvement of pesticides and herbicides. At the same time it creates fair wages for good work within a socially weak country.

Innovation is the key ingredient of bleeds success. Up-cycling with Sympatex production leftovers for their outdoor collection, exchanging leather with an innovative cork product, which was researched and financed by Bleed and successfully introduced to the market by a crowd-funding initiative, these are only a few of their ideas. Of course they also use innovative fabrics like the polyamide yarn made from fishing nets for their swim wear.
