Top Innovation on Traceability

Allied Feather and Down

Optix™ is a revolutionary new technology that allows every cluster of ALLIED down to be tagged to ensure that ALLIED brand partners and their customers are guaranteed the quality, performance, responsible sourcing and sustainability they are expecting. Optix is more accurate than any current DNA or Isotope testing and further allows for a reader to “read” the down through a finished garment at retail. As consumers become increasingly interested in engaging with every element of their products, ALLIED and their partners can work together to build new down experiences and bring the world’s oldest insulation into the future. Optix allows the consumer to experience directly in a new cognitive way what exactly it is keeping them warm safe and comfortable.

The backbone of Animal Welfare and Traceability

Textile Exchange

Textile Exchange believes that standards are one of the most powerful tools in the industry to ensure that all of the work that is done towards sustainability in the textile industry is genuine and leads to real and meaningful change. They can guide companies toward the best possible way of doing business, helping ensure that they are using sustainable and ethical means to produce a product. Textile Exchange standards include: Responsible Down Standard, Responsible Wool Standard, Organic Content Standard, Recycled Claim Standard, and Global Recycled Standard.

Responsible Wool Standard

The Responsible Wool Standard is an independent, voluntary standard, which means that companies can choose to become certified. On farms, the certification ensures that sheep are treated with respect to their five freedoms and also ensures best practices in the management and protection of the land. Through production, certification ensures that wool for certified farms is properly identified and tracked. Ashley Gill, Integrity Specialist, will introduce the standard and how to get involved.

Hanna Denes will be speaking on the Guided Tour on Monday 19.6.2017 11.00 am at OutDoor in Friedrichshafen about the Responsible Wool Standard. #GRVtransparencytours

Responsible Down Standard

The Responsible Down Standard is an independent, voluntary global standard, which means that companies can choose to certify their products to the RDS, even if there is no legislation requiring them to do so. The RDS was developed over three years in close corporation with animal welfare organizations, industry experts, down suppliers, brands and retailers. The standard recognizes the best practices in animal welfare, and excludes those that violate the animal’s well being; live-plucking and force-feeding are strictly prohibited. The RDS is the most widely used animal welfare standard for down and feathers in the outdoor industry and continues to grow in home and bedding products.
