SUSTAINABILITY HUB presents: New Projects by Südwolle Group and ZQ

Südwolle Group: Cradle-to-gate emission reduction through the ZQRX regenerative wool fibre platform and factory solar panel (PV) installations.

Growing with the times and an imperative need to reduce impact throughout production processes from cradle-to-gate, Greenroom Voice is excited to share Südwolle Group’s forward-thinking partnerships Regenerative farming with ZQ Natural Fibre and the ZQRX’s regenerative wool fibre platform. Developments in solar panel installation (PV) in spinning factories. A new, fully digitized and automated dyehouse facility by Rifa (Richter Färberei & Ausrüstung) expected to significantly reduce fresh water, electricity, and steam consumption, resulting in environmental and economic benefits.  Are all exciting initiatives on the horizon of Südwolle Groups commitment footprint reduction.

Südwolle Group and ZQ by the New Zealand Merino Company

Südwolle Group, established in 1966, is a family-owned business based in Schwaig, Germany, known for producing high-quality dyed and natural worsted yarns using 100% wool and wool blends. In hopes of producing yarn through the most ethical means they partnered with ZQ natural fibre. “ZQ, the world’s leading ethical wool brand…is a wool certification standard that stands for a better quality of life.  For the animals, for our planet, our people, and you.”  Focusing on sustainable, ethical, and traceable wool production ZQ has partnered with farms across New Zealand to certify and support regenerative, sustainable farming practices in the wool production industry.

ZQRX takes the big picture view of the global challenges and contributes to solving them by accelerating small, collective, regenerative-driven actions.

Initiatives

Südwolle Group: Cradle-to-gate emission reduction through the ZQRX regenerative wool fibre platform and factory solar panel (PV) installations.

ZQ Fibre, established in 2006, is a marque of integrity for New Zealand merino growers committed to ethical wool production. ZQ growers meet ZQ fibre quality, animal welfare, care for the environment and social responsibility standards.
ZQRX (The ZQ Regenerative Index) is a new collaborative action platform from The New Zealand Merino Company for people, businesses and organisations that adapt, take action, never stop learning and keep going until they get it right.
ZQRX wool growers who are interacting with the natural world on your behalf each day at the grassroots level i.e. restoring waterways, protecting native species, offsetting carbon, and enhancing local communities.
ZQRX brands, world-leading brand partners who are championing and celebrating growers’ efforts with end-users on a daily basis.

De-Carbonising the Supply Chains

Also in further process steps Südwolle Group has a clear focus on the reduction of factory production footprints.

Spinning: The Südwolle Group is proud of the work their production plants at Zhangjiagang Yangtse Spinning in China and DaLat Worsted Spinning in Vietnam are making through the installation of photovoltaic panels (PV) on their facilities.  The goal is not only to supply the power needed for production of product but to overproduce contributing renewable energy to greater public power supply.

Dyeing & Finishing: Rifa (Richter Färberei & Ausrüstung) a German dye house and member of Südwolle Group, specialising in dyeing and finishing has fully their digitised facility to significantly reduce fresh water, electricity, and steam consumption, resulting in environmental and economic benefits. Starting in 2023, Rifa’s dye house will rely entirely on renewable energy, leading to a remarkable 799.4-ton CO2 savings certified by TÜV Rheinland.

GreenroomVoice sees Südwolle Group’s commitment to the highest ethical standards in process and accounting, which can provide guidance and encourage further development of data systems and protocols to clearly define and reduce carbon footprints throughout other supply chains within the textile industry.
