PRODUCT TESTING | FJÄLLRÄVEN KEB Jacket & Pants

“I was really surprised to be so comfortable and warm in a shell without any insulation at 100 km/h wind force. Hiking up is a sweaty business, but any time I stopped to take a picture, I felt really warm. Same goes for the comfort of wearing the outfit. As a snowboarder I love having a lot of space for movement, but despite the slim cut, I never felt restricted. The well-placed pockets are easily accessible, without zippers- absolutely perfect for taking pictures and filming while on the mountain. Lots of space for all smaller and bigger things. Great natural looking style, super versatile and awesome to the touch.”

GreenroomVoice statement on environmental and social performance:
This is probably the first time you see a split boarder clad in Fjällräven. But as Mo attests: the technical features such as warmth, breathability and cut are of the highest comfort.
The Keb Series is one of the center collections of the Fjällräven product portfolio, so it was interesting for us at GreenroomVoice to have a closer look. The polyester- cotton mix (65% polyester and 35% organic cotton of the highest quality), called the G-1000 fabric is first of all very resistant. So a long live of the garment is guaranteed. Besides that, it is impregnated with Greenland Wax instead of the commonly used PFC waterproof treatment, which is harmful to the environment. Moritz did admit, that after looking for a lost ski for two hours in the deep powder snow, it did get a little moist inside the typical pressure points such as the knees. But this is a small price to pay for the health of our environment in the long run.

So far the poly-cotton mix is not recyclable, even though dedicated projects are working behind the scenes on finding mainstream industry solutions. This is not possible for now and the main reason, why this fabric “only” received three out of five possible points in our product rating.

Otherwise we can attest Fjällräven an excellent environmental management with all relevant procedures of measurement in place, to understand and effectively reduce impact. They work with Life Cycle Assessments and environmental reports according to GRI, which is a standardized reporting system to avoid bias. They have gained extra commitment points by creating their own down supply chain and guaranteeing best animal husbandry practice, right through to humane transportation and slaughter. This was a very important decision for the brand, since many of their products evolve around the high quality goose down.
